I am Agender, Aromantic, and Asexual and navigating daily life in a society built on cisheteronormative structures is mentally and emotionally taxing. Strangers and acquaintances assume a lot of incorrect things about me, and my ability to love. They ask a lot of invasive questions about my marriage that they wouldn’t ask a cisgendered, alloromantic, heterosexual person. And many times I have felt like I needed to explain myself, to help people make sense of me. But I don’t need to do that. This piece is a reminder to myself that the only people it needs to make sense to is me and him.
